On Wednesday, May 27, the Authors Guild Foundation hosted our inaugural Page to Stage event, an intimate salon series on bringing literary works and the figures behind them to the stage. At the beautiful penthouse home of Brisa and Mark Carleton, over 50 guests gathered for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a conversation between bestselling author Harlan Coben and playwright Mark Rosenblatt on the creative journey of bringing the Tony Award-nominated play GIANT and the towering figure of Roald Dahl to Broadway. Several guests also had the opportunity to join us for a performance of GIANT later that evening.
“Harlan Coben and Mark Rosenblatt were the perfect pairing to launch this series,” said Deborah K. Wilson, Executive Director of the Authors Guild Foundation. “’Page to Stage’ offers audiences an intimate look at the artistic process behind theatrical adaptations while also supporting the Foundation’s vital work on behalf of writers.”
Carleton added, “Theater and literature have always been deeply connected, and this series is about celebrating that relationship in a meaningful and engaging way.”
Page to Stage is co-chaired by Carleton, an author and Broadway producer, and Authors Guild Foundation board member, Allison Smith, an acclaimed Broadway and television actress.
Page to Stage is part of our Guild Nights series, intimate cocktail parties and dinners that give guests an inside look at the creative process of acclaimed writers. Proceeds from these events help support the vital work of the Authors Guild and Authors Guild Foundation on behalf of writers and the literary community. GIANT is now in performances at the Music Box Theatre on Broadway through June 28. Tickets can be purchased here.
