The Authors Guild expresses solidarity with the HarperCollins union members who have been on strike since November 10, 2022, to demand higher pay, a greater commitment to diversifying staff, and stronger union protections. The union, which has been in existence for more than sixty years and is the only one of its kind among major book publishers, represents over 250 HarperCollins employees in its editorial, sales, publicity, design, legal, and marketing departments. We appeal to HarperCollins management to work with the union in good faith to improve compensation, staff diversity, and union protections.
