It’s too common for writers and creatives to claim “I’m not good with money.” Ever muttered that sentence to yourself or as an excuse to a friend? Perhaps that’s because you conflate money and math or because you’ve struggled to build a financial plan that works for you. It’s time to lay the tired stereotype to rest. Building a budget will give you control over your cash flow and free up brain space to put towards your creative work.

Erin Lowry, host of the Money Matters series, and Uchechi Kalu, CFP® and poet, will help get you out of the paycheck-to-paycheck cycle and into a strategy designed to fit your life. The discussion will offer practical tips for budgeting, including:

  • Building a budget that works with irregular income
  • Planning for lean months and saving in strong ones
  • How to set realistic financial goals when income fluctuates
